What is included in the FORTUNE Digital Edition?

The FORTUNE Digital Edition is everything you've come to expect from the magazine and much more. It includes the current issue of FORTUNE Magazine (the same time it is available on newsstands) plus live updates, news feeds, video, social sharing tools, and more.

Can I buy issues within the app?

You can purchase monthly or annual subscriptions, or single digital issues within the FORTUNE app. Once you have successfully downloaded the FORTUNE app to your iPad, go to the Store page within the app to purchase a subscription or single issue. Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store automatically renew.

If you're an existing print subscriber you can also add the Digital Edition for the length of your current print subscription term at no additional charge. Current subscribers can download the new issue as part of the subscription.

What is included with the single copy Digital Edition purchase?

It includes the current issue of FORTUNE (the same week it is available on newsstands) plus live updates, news feeds, video, social sharing tools, and more.

What issues am I entitled to as part of my subscription?

You are entitled to available issues as far back as the start of your subscription.

If you subscribe via Apple, your subscription begins with the current issue of the magazine.

Do my issues expire?

No. Any purchased issues or issues available as part of your subscription are yours to keep.

Can I share the Digital Edition issue with friends?

Current FORTUNE Subscribers

I'm already a FORTUNE subscriber, how do I upgrade my subscription to include the Digital Edition?

To get access to the Digital Edition on the iPad, click here.

The Digital Edition is included in your subscription for the remainder of your current subscription term.

When trying to upgrade my account to include digital, I received an error message saying that I need to enable JavaScript. How do I do that?

On an iPad

1. Go to the Settings icon on your iPad Homepage.

2. Tap Safari.

3. Slide the button next to “JavaScript” to “On”.

On Chrome:

1. On the web browser menu click on the "Customize and control Google Chrome" and select "Options".

2. In the "Google Chrome Options" tab select the "Under the Hood" menu item.

3. In the "Privacy" section click "Content settings..." button.

4. In the "Content settings" window go to "JavaScript" section and select "Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)".

5. Close the "Google Chrome Options" tab.

6. Click on the "Reload this page" button of the web browser to refresh the page.

On Internet Explorer:

1. On the web browser menu click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".

2. In the "Internet Options" window select the "Security" tab.

3. On the "Security" tab click on the "Custom level..." button.

4. When the "Security Settings - Internet Zone" dialog window opens, look for the "Scripting" section.

5. In the "Active Scripting" item select "Enable".

6. When the "Warning!" window pops out asking "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?" select "Yes".

7. In the "Internet Options" window click on the "OK" button to close it.

8. Click on the "Refresh" button of the web browser to refresh the page.

On Firefox:

1. On the web browser click the "Firefox" menu and then select "Options".

2. In the "Options" window select the "Content" tab.

3. Mark the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox.

4. In the opened "Options" window click on the "OK" button to close it.

5. Click on the "Reload current page" button of the web browser to refresh the page.

Can I switch my existing print subscription to a digital subscription?

To switch your existing print subscription to a digital subscription, please call 1-866-784-9817.

My current subscription includes both the print and Digital Edition. Can I change my subscription to include only the Digital Edition?

To switch your existing print and digital subscription to a digital subscription, please call 1-866-784-9817.

I have not received the email with the CONFIRMATION CODE to create my password.

When you subscribe to the Digital Edition or upgrade your print subscription to include the Digital Edition, you will receive a welcome email with a CONFIRMATION CODE if you did not create an account password.

•  Make sure you are using the email address used at registration.

•  Check your Spam mail folder for the Welcome Confirmation Code email. For Gmail users, see below.

•  If the Welcome email is found in your Spam folder, add the “FROM” address to your address book.

If you still cannot find the email, reset your password by following the “Forgot Password” process:

•  Tap on the magazine app and go to the Library page to sign in.

•  Tap on Sign In.

•  Tap Forgot Password.

•  Enter your email address twice in the page that appears and tap SUBMIT.

•  An email with a Confirmation Code and link to the Reset Password page will be sent to your email address. (Make sure that you type the information correctly because the “auto-correct” feature of many tablet devices can change your entry while typing.)

•  Go to your email account to find the Forgot Password email. If using Gmail, please see below under Gmail users.

•  Tap the Create Password link and follow the instructions on the page where you will be asked to enter the Confirmation Code (if it doesn’t automatically populate) and create a new password.

If you still cannot receive or locate the email, contact Customer Service at 866-784-9817 to obtain the CONFIRMATION CODE.

Gmail users:

If you are using a Gmail account and did not receive the Welcome email, check your Spam folder. To see your Spam folder, you may have to click the “MORE” button. This will expand to show more folders. You can then open up the Spam folder from here.

I forgot my Digital Edition password. What can I do?

Where can I download the FORTUNE app?

You can download the app from the Apple App Store. Tap here if you are currently using your iPad.

For iOS5 or later:

1.       Download and install the FREE FORTUNE iPad app from the Apple Newsstand.

2.       Tap the FORTUNE cover in your Newsstand folder to open the app.

 

For older operating systems:

1.       Download the FREE FORTUNE app from the App Store

2.       To open the app, tap the FORTUNE icon on your Home screen

 

To enjoy free content updated daily, simply tap the Dashboard icon in the bottom menu bar

You can receive a notification when the new issue is available. In order to read the new issue you must purchase a single copy within the app or subscribers can download the new issue as part of the subscription.

I am subscriber to the U.S. Edition living abroad.  Why do I no longer have access to new issues of the U.S. Edition on my iPad?

Regional Editions of FORTUNE are now available on the iPad – Europe Asia, and South Pacific. Europe, Asia and South Pacific. To continue enjoying FORTUNE on your iPad, please download the FORTUNE application from the App Store. It will be specific to your region and tied to the address used in your Apple account.

What is the Dashboard?

The Dashboard is a section of the New Fortune App for iPad that is included when you download the app from the iTunes Newsstand.  You do not need to purchase a magazine or become a subscriber to view stories on the Dashboard.

The Dashboard brings together stories, videos and photos from Fortune magazine, Fortune.com, and original content from the editors of Fortune.

How is the Dashboard different than the magazine?

The Dashboard is a section of the New Fortune App for iPad that is included when you download the app or update to the latest version from the iTunes Newsstand.  You do not need to purchase a magazine or become a subscriber to view stories on the Dashboard. In addition to Dashboard content, Fortune Magazine subscribers get the full, digitized version of every issue of the magazine for free.

Yes.  You get access to the Dashboard when you download the free Fortune App for iPad from the iTunes Newsstand.

How do I access the Dashboard?

iOS5 or later:

·         Download and install the FORTUNE iPad app from the Apple Newsstand.

·         Tap the FORTUNE cover in your Newsstand folder to open the app.

·         Tap the Dashboard icon in the bottom menu bar.

 

Older operating systems:

·         Download the FORTUNE app from the App Store.

·         To open the app, tap the FORTUNE icon on your tablet screen.

·         Tap the Dashboard icon in the bottom menu bar.

 

How do I navigate between the Dashboard and the Magazine?

To read the magazine from the Dashboard:

Tap the red “Magazine” icon at the bottom and you will be brought to any opened issue of the magazine (or the Store or the Library if you haven’t bought or downloaded an issue).  Note: when in the magazine, additional navigation icons will become active to help you move through the pages of the magazine.

To return to the Dashboard tap the Red “Dashboard” icon.  

If I’m reading the Magazine can I go back to where I left off from the Dashboard?

If you have currently opened the issue of the Magazine when you move back and forth between the Magazine and the Dashboard you will return to the page where you left off. 

How do I view a locked “From the Magazine” article from the Dashboard page?

You must be logged in to view a locked article from the Dashboard.

If you have purchased a subscription through iTunes (and have access to that issue) you will automatically be taken to that article in the magazine from the Dashboard.  

If you are a current Subscriber who has previously logged in with your Fortune Digital user name and password (and have access to that issue) you will be automatically be taken to that article in the magazine. 

How do I view a locked “From the Magazine” article from an article page?

If you have already downloaded the issue:

·       Click the “Read Now” button. You will be taken to the article in the issue.

 

If you have purchased a subscription through iTunes or have previously entered your Fortune Subscriber user name and password:

·       Click the “Download” button and you will automatically be taken to that article in the magazine from the Dashboard.  

 

If you are a current Subscriber with a Fortune Digital user name/password:

·       Click the “Read Now” button and you will be asked to “Sign in” with your Fortune digital user name and password.  Once signed in you will automatically be taken to the article within the magazine.

 

If you are a current Subscriber and you do not have a Fortune Digital user name/password you should follow these steps:

·         Click the “Read Now” button.

·         Click the “Register” button to register for FREE.

·         Once you have your credentials you should click the “Read Now” button again.

·          “Sign In” and you will automatically be taken to the article within the magazine.

 

If you are not a Fortune subscriber:

·       Click the “Purchase Now” button and you will be given the option to subscribe or buy the single issue using your iTunes account.  You will automatically be taken to the article within the magazine.

 

How do I see the issues I’ve purchased?

All issues you have purchased and downloaded will appear in the Library (Library icon) .   All available issues are in the Store (Store icon)

Troubleshooting

I’ve downloaded the FORTUNE app, but can’t locate the icon on my iPad Home screen.

For iPads with iOS5 or higher, the app will download to Newsstand, which has its own icon on the iPad Home screen. Tap the Newsstand icon and the FORTUNE app icon will be on the Newsstand shelf.

For iPads running a version lower than iOS5, the FORTUNE app will download to the iPad Home screen.

Why won't my FORTUNE Digital Edition for iPad download?

Since the average FORTUNE iPad Edition is 400MG, it can take 20 minutes or longer to download depending on your Wi-Fi Internet connection. We recommend not using a 3G connection as it will take over an hour and may timeout causing you to start the download over again. For best results, please disable your iPad's Auto Lock function while downloading your issue. If your iPad goes to "Sleep" during a download, it will not resume the download until it is no longer "Sleeping." If this happens, the download will continue from the spot where it was before the iPad was in "Sleep" mode. Please keep in mind that a constant and strong Internet Connection is best. Also, if the internet connection is lost, the download will need to be started over.

How can I delete an issue?

You can delete the issue by going to your library where all of your FORTUNE Digital Editions for iPad will be located. There you simply touch and hold the issue you want to delete until an "x" comes up in the left hand corner. Tap the "x" and your issue will be deleted from your library.

Subscribers:

The cover image of your deleted subscription issue will still appear in the library. If you would like to re-read your issue, simply tap the 'Download' button that appears on top of the cover image in the Library.

Single Copy Purchasers:

The deleted issue will no longer appear in your library. Not to worry though, you can re-download any issues that you've deleted from your iPad at no additional charge. To re-download a previously purchased issue that has been deleted, return to the store, find the issue you'd like to re-download and tap the 'Buy' button. You will be prompted to confirm your purchase and then immediately prompted to download again for free.

Will deleting an issue free up storage space on my iPad?

Yes and you can access it again at any time by re-downloading the issue, free of charge.

How do I re-download an issue that was deleted?

To re-download a previously deleted issue, simply tap the download button that appears on top of the cover. If you purchased a single copy, the deleted issue will no longer appear in your library. To re-download a previously purchased deleted issue, return to the store, find the issue you'd like to re-download and tap the buy button. You will be prompted to confirm your purchase and then immediately prompted to download again for free.

Why is it taking so long to sync or back up my iPad?

Each issue of FORTUNE is fairly large and can add noticeable time to your iPad syncing or backing up. To avoid this you can either delete the issue prior to backing up or you can manually cancel the backup process from happening at the start of the iPad sync process. If you only want to sync your iPad you can continue to do that after you cancel the backup process. You can delete an issue by going to your Library where all of your FORTUNE iPad Editions are located. Simply touch and hold the issue you want to delete until an "x" appears in the left hand corner of the cover image. Tap the "x" and your issue will be deleted from your library.

Subscribers:

The cover image of your deleted subscription issue will still appear in the library. If you would like to re-read your issue, simply tap the 'Download' button that appears on top of the cover image in the Library.

Single Copy Purchasers:

The deleted issue will no longer appear in your library. Not to worry though, you can re-download any issues that you've deleted from your iPad at no additional charge. To re-download a previously purchased issue that has been deleted, return to the store, find the issue you'd like to re-download and tap the 'Buy' button. I recently purchased a new iPad. Are my subscription issues still available to me?

You will need to follow these steps to transfer your digital subscription from another iPad.

1. Open the app.

2. Tap the My Account button at the bottom of the app.

3. Tap the Transfer button.

4. Log in using your Apple account information.

5. After the transfer is complete, tap Library to view available issues ready to be downloaded. Because you have already paid for these issues, downloading them is free of charge.

I forgot my Digital Edition password. What can I do?

I purchased a digital subscription via Apple App Store. Do I need to sign in to the app to view my issues?

No. For your subscription via Apple App Store, simply open the app and tap to the library to view and download issues.

I forgot my Apple password. What can I do?

1. Tap the Apple App Store icon on your iPad.

2. At the bottom right of the Apple App Store page, tap 'Support'.

3. In the left margin of the screen, tap 'Account and Billing'.

4. Under 'Apple ID/iTunes Account', tap 'Apple ID Support'.

5. Tap the word 'password' within 'Recover Apple ID name or password'.

6. Follow instructions on the page.

How do I manage my Apple App Store subscription?

To manage your Apple App Store subscription, access the Settings app on your iPad, and select Store. Tap on your Apple ID and confirm that you wish to view your Apple ID. Scroll down to Subscriptions, and tap on Manage.

How do I cancel the digital subscription I purchased through Apple App Store?

Access the settings app on your iPad, and select Store. Tap on your Apple ID and confirm that you wish to view your Apple ID. Scroll down to Subscriptions, and tap on Manage. From here you can disable auto-renewal, which ends your subscription.

I am having an Apple App Store billing problem. Can I send you my Apple App Store account information to get it resolved?

No. Apple does not share any billing or customer information with us, and all charges to your account are managed solely by Apple. Unfortunately we do not have the ability to look at your purchase history or credit your account. Feel free to contact customer service if you are having a problem downloading an issue.

I do not show any available issues to download in My Library.

•  Tap the SETTINGS icon on the Home screen of the iPad.

•  In the GENERAL settings tap, find Date and Time.

•  Then tap on Set Date & Time. If the date does not match the current date, manually adjust to the current date.

•  Go back to the Library in the App and try signing in again to access the issues.

•  If you still cannot access your issues or nothing is showing in your Library, contact Customer Service at 866-784-9817.
