RSS Delivery of FORTUNE Group Online Content
As a service to our readers, FORTUNE, FORTUNE Small Business, and Business 2.0 content is available for customized delivery through RSS.
RSS, or "really simple syndication, " is an Internet document format that aggregates newly published content from websites chosen by the reader. This enables the reader to be alerted that a website has published new content without periodically checking the site manually for updates. These stories are then retrieved for the reader. Depending on the service the reader elects to use, and the source of the information, content may be displayed in a variety of ways, but usually in headlines or summaries.
In order to use RSS, a web user must first either download a "reader,".an application that runs on his own computer, sign up for a Web-based product, or sign up for e-mail delivery. Once the user has downloaded a reader or signed up for web-based or e-mail delivery, he then chooses the sources from which he would like to receive updates.
How to Sign Up:
Large portals like Yahoo!, and aggregator sites like Newsgator.com allow users the option of customizable web pages (My Yahoo!), web-based delivery, or e-mail delivery. A list of sites with downloadable readers and those with web-based readers is available here.
