Wachovia Announces New Retirement And Financial Planning Program

Company teams with Time Inc. Business and Finance Network to help Sarasota and Manatee county residents better prepare for the future

May 17, JACKSONVILLE , Fla. - What's your number? That's the question Wachovia Corp. will be asking Sarasota and Bradenton , Fla. , residents during a special series of retirement and financial planning events to be held throughout the latter part of 2006. What's Your Number? is intended to help residents of every age group, but especially those approaching retirement, become better prepared for the future.

"We want to help people of every age group, from children to adults already in retirement, understand how much money they will need to attain their dreams, and how they might begin to save that money, whether that dream is a comfortable retirement, a college education for their children or a new home," said Kent Ellert, Wachovia's regional president for the Gulf Coast, which includes Sarasota and Manatee counties.

As part of the program, Wachovia is partnering with Time Inc., to host a wide range of seminars for individuals and businesses:

Fall Envision seminars-Envision is an innovative communicative tool that gives financial advisors the ability to gain a deeper understanding of the personal goals and needs of their clients.

 

" What's Your Number? is a unique partnership between our brands - FORTUNE, Money, Business 2.0 and FSB: FORTUNE Small Business - and Wachovia, creating a new type of marketing program that engages and educates consumers about important retirement and savings issues," said Michael Dukmejian, Group Publisher, Time Inc. Business and Finance Network. "This program activates a range of tools across our network, including in-book advertorials, educational booklets, conferences and seminars with editors and writers from our leading business publications."

 

The centerpiece of What's Your Number? is a panel discussion featuring nationally known financial experts at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center on May 17. The panel consists of:

•  Terri Savage, author, The Savage Number and personal finance columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times

"We believe one of the best ways to help consumers get in better shape for retirement is through educating them and providing practical retirement and financial tips."

Advertising for the program began appearing in national magazines FORTUNE, Money, FSB : FORTUNE Small Business and Business 2.0 during April. The first ad is an advertorial, "Funding Your Future," which provides readers five tips for hitting their retirement target. Sarasota and Bradenton area residents will also see billboards at key intersections and radio, television and print ads in the market. Ads will also appear online.
