Ellen Stark

Ellen Stark was named executive editor of MONEY in May of 2008. She has written and edited stories about retirement, mutual funds, real estate, banking, credit cards, insurance, education, taxes, travel, health and nonprofit organizations. Among the many cover packages she has produced is the "2000 Ultimate Retirement Guide," winner of the Luce Award for personal service and a National Magazine Award finalist, and "100 Things Every Investor Should Know," a National Magazine finalist in 2005.
Stark joined MONEY as a reporter in 1990, was promoted to writer in 1994, rose to associate editor in 1998, then to senior editor five months later. Her television and radio appearances include NBC's Sunrise and Today, Fox's Good Day New York, CNN, CNBC, CBS Morning News, Good Morning America, and the Business Radio Network.
Prior to joining MONEY, Stark interned at The Washington Monthly and Chicago Enterprise, served as a Washington, D.C. correspondent for the Rapid City (SD) Journal and then, in 1988, moved to Psychology Today, where she rose to assistant editor.
A native of Aquebogue, NY, Stark holds a B.A. in History from Brown University and an M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Residing in Manhattan, she is a member of the New Amsterdam Singers and has served as president of its Board of Directors.
