Michael Sivy is an editor-at-large at MONEY specializing in stocks and the economy. Sivy also writes a monthly column on investing strategy that focuses on America's top companies and helps readers invest for long-term growth.

Over the past 20 years, Sivy has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, MSNBC and local New York City TV stations. He has been interviewed by Jane Pauley, Regis Philbin, Giselle Fernandez, Catherine Crier, Stuart Varney and Maria Bartiromo. In addition, he has been heard on NPR's All Things Considered, Public Radio International's Marketplace, WINS and the CBS Radio Network.

After joining MONEY as a staff writer in 1980, Sivy left in November 1981 to become a securities analyst. In 1984, he became an analyst for the equity-trading division of a commodities brokerage. He returned to MONEY as a writer in 1985. He has also worked on projects in Hong Kong and London to expand TIME International's personal finance coverage.

Sivy is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and a Chartered Financial Analyst. His book, "Michael Sivy's Rules of Investing: How to Pick Stocks Like a Pro," was published in May of 1996.

Born in New York City, Sivy holds BA and MA degrees in classics from Columbia University. Sivy resides in Manhattan.
