MONEY

Marlys Harris this January rejoined the staff of MONEY as a senior editor. Previously she was the Finance Editor at Consumer Reports. In her eight years at the magazine, she oversaw all financial material published in the magazine and on its Web site and in 2004, launched a new CR publication, the Consumer Reports Money Adviser, a 16-page newsletter that now has a readership of 300,000, making it the largest personal finance newsletter in the nation.

Ms. Harris joined CR in 1999, after a stint as a senior editor at Working Woman magazine. Before that, she spent eight years as a freelancer, writing for MONEY, New Choices, Parenting, Family Life, People, FORTUNE, and other magazines plus appearing on CNN weekly to dispense financial advice. She is a veteran of MONEY, where she had her own column in addition to launching the magazine's enterprise reporting with its first investigative piece in 1982.

She is the author of The Zanucks of Hollywood, the story of the estate battle among the heirs of Darryl Zanuck, the founder of Twentieth Century Fox movie studio. The book was published in 1989 by Crown.

A native of Minnesota, Ms. Harris is a graduate of Brandeis University and a resident of Westport, Connecticut. She has two children — one an MBA and a fellow at the U.S. Department of Labor and the other an undergraduate at American University.
