Stephen Gandel is a senior writer at MONEY where he covers real estate and the economy.
Prior to joining MONEY, Gandel was the senior Wall Street reporter for Crain's New York Business. He also held positions at Individual Investor and at The Riverfront Times in St. Louis, MO. His work has also appeared in FORTUNE and Esquire.
Gandel has been a guest market commentator on television and radio including appearances on Oprah, "Good Morning America," "American Morning," and is a regular contributor to CNN's "Issue #1." He is also a co-star of "MONEY'S Tips for Couples," which airs on Sundays on the Fine Living Network.
Gandel has twice won the award for best magazine report from the National Association of Real Estate Editors. He is also a three-time winner of the Henry R. Luce award, as well as the recipient of the Excellence in Financial Journalism award from the New York State Society of CPAs. His coverage of the aftermath of Sept. 11 won a Gold Award for feature writing from the Alliance of Area Business Publications.
A New Jersey native, Gandel graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Economics and English from Washington University in St. Louis. He also sits on the board of directors of a public high school in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
