FORTUNE MAGAZINE AND PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

New York, February 17, 2005—FORTUNE and the Prostate Cancer Foundation announced today a partnership to help raise awareness of this disease which affects two million American men. In honor of its 75th anniversary, FORTUNE is making a generous contribution of $75,000 and is pledging funds from advertising sold in 2005, approximately $750,000 worth of advertising pages, to directly benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

"FORTUNE has been a leader among journalistic organizations in telling the public the facts about this terrible disease," said Michael Milken, chairman of the Prostate Cancer Foundation. "Because one in every six American men will get prostate cancer, it is a vital public service."

Milken, along with actress, comedian and Prostate Cancer Foundation supporter Whoopi Goldberg, and actor, singer and prostate cancer survivor Mandy Patinkin, shared stories that reinforced the importance of frequent screening and proper nutrition to fight this disease.

"Bend over, cough and live," said Whoopi Goldberg.

In two recent cover stories, "Beating Cancer," November 2004 and "Why We're Losing the War on Cancer (and How to Win It)," March 2004, FORTUNE has demonstrated a deep commitment to covering the war on cancer and to inspire dialogue and change.

"By capturing the personal and heroic stories of men like Mike Milken, FORTUNE has changed the national conversation about cancer," said Jack Haire, executive vice president, Time Inc. "FORTUNE is proud to have played a prominent role in the urgent debate in finding a cure for this deadly disease."
