Senior writer Parija Kavilanz covers the retail industry, international trade and breaking business news for CNNMoney.com.

She joined CNNMoney in February 2000 as an associate producer, covering topics such as personal finance, financial markets and the bond market. In October 2006 she received the Front Page Award (in the Internet category for breaking news) from the Newswomen's Club of New York for her coverage of Black Friday 2005.

Prior to joining CNNMoney, Parija briefly worked with the Observer newspaper in New Delhi, where she reported on political, economic and social issues. Parija has also previously lived and studied in Bahrain, Moscow, Tanzania and Portugal.

She has a Master's degree in journalism from New York University, a Master's degree in Business Communication and Public Relations from the European University (Center for Management Studies) and an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of New Delhi.

Parija lives in New York City with her husband Frank.
