Creativity Workshop with Sophie Marsham

For those participants who want to innovate through art, this workshop is about creating something beautiful from something mundane—in this case, discarded utilitarian objects. The challenge here is to see beyond the obvious with a fresh eye and apply that creative process to projects back at the office. In several different classes of no more than 15 people per class, Innovation Forum participants will design and make large-scale moving flowers from such materials as bicycle cogs and copper pipes. As the flowers take shape, participants will see their work become part of a surreal medley of raw materials growing organically to become an interactive sculpture that fills the Jazz from Lincoln Center's atrium space.

The classes will be led by Sophie Marsham, a London-based sculptor who works with stainless steel, copper, and reclaimed and recycled materials. Trained at the Chelsea School of Art, Ms. Marsham designs her oversized sculptures for installation in public buildings, rather than for private viewing in galleries.
