Brainstorm 2004
July 14-16, 2004
Aspen, Colorado
Overview
Since 2001, FORTUNE's editors have been gathering the smartest, most influential people we know to discuss the evolving role of business in the world at large. Over the past three years, Brainstorm has developed into a unique forum positioned at the critical intersection of business, technology, and world affairs. Participants tackle some of the world's most difficult issues, including political, religious, and military tensions; global warming; the economic divide between haves and have-nots; and the social responsibilities of corporations.
Brainstorm participants are carefully selected to represent a diversity of personalities, ideologies, and viewpoints. The group is kept small to promote interaction and a cross-fertilization of ideas. We work toward the kind of understanding that can only come from multidisciplinary and cross-cultural dialogue. Past participants have included: Pekka Ala-Pietilä, Nokia Corp.; Carol A. Bartz, Autodesk; Marc Benioff, salesforce.com; Sergey Brin, Google; Bruce Claflin, 3Com; The Hon. William Clinton, 42nd president of the U.S.; Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, N M Rothschild & Sons; Marion Wright Edelman, Children's Defense Fund; Michael Eisner, Disney; Brian Grazer, Academy Award winning producer; The Baroness Susan Greenfield, Royal Institute of Great Britain; Robert Hormats, Goldman Sachs; Pierre Omidyar, eBay; Shimon Peres, Former Prime Minister, Israel; Xiao Qiang, Human Rights in China; Kavita Ramdas, Global Fund for Women; Farshad Rastegar, Relief International; Ken Roth, Human Rights Watch, and Carl Wieman, Nobel Prize winning physicist.
Brainstorm 2004 will be hosted by FORTUNE and the Aspen Institute at Aspen Meadows on July 14 - 16, 2004. The program will include different formatsdinners, general plenary sessions featuring panels and one-on-one interviews, short solo presentations to small group roundtables, and fireside chatsall designed to facilitate in-depth dialogue.
